Keratosis pilaris creams and lotions


        Keratosis pilaris is a condition of the skin. The ichthyoses are the result of a thickening of the stratum corneum of the epidermis. This is secondary to insufficient removal of the stratum corneum or to an acceleration of the formation of the epidermis (outer layer of skin) and the stratum corneum (top layer of skin).

Keratosis pilaris emollients and moiturizing

        Emollients and moiturizing they are rarely effective. Their goal is to improve flexibility and reduce skin feeling dry. Some preparations exert this action through an "occlusive effect, it is the hydrophobic fatty oils such as Vaseline or paraffin, silicone oils, oils of vegetable origin (sweet almond, sesame seeds) or animal waxes of bees and the white whale, used in the preparation of ointments. Other products are highly hygroscopic and improve hydration of the stratum corneum: the lactate and sodium pyrrolidone carboxylic acid or urea, polyols (glycerol, sorbitol or propylene glycol) and glycerin .
